Network Cabling and Routing (CCNA1+CCNA2)

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Overview of LANs and practical skill with cabling. Configuration of routers.

Cabling. Network troubleshooting: physical and link layers. Overview and selection of routing protocols. Configuring a router. The contents of the course corresponds to CCNA 1 and CCNA 2 courses.

Prerequisites

Basics of addressing: IP addresses, physical addresses. Binary-hexadecimal-decimal conversion. Operating systems Unix and Windows. Ability to study standards and literature in English.

    3. Cabling LANs and WANs, Ethernet Fundamentals.
    4. Ethernet Technologies, Ethernet Switching.
    5. TCP/IP and IP Addressing, Routing Fundamentals and Subnets.
    6. TCP/IP Transport and Application Layers.
    7. WANs and Routers, Introduction to Routers.
    8. Configuring a Router, Learning About Other Devices.
    9. Managing Cisco IOS, Routing and Routing Protocols.
    10. Distance Vector Routing Protocols, TCP/IP Suite Error and Control Messages.
    11. Basic Router Troubleshooting, Intermediate TCP/IP.
    12. Access Control Lists.

Aims

Students gain practical skill with cabling systems, Ethernet technology and IP addressing. Routing, basic configuration of routers, setting routing protocols RIP and IGRP, and access lists configuration. The contents of the course covers CCNA 1 and CCNA 2.
