Sculpture Technologies - summer

FaVU-ST2-LAcad. year: 2018/2019

Students will be introduced to working with polyesthers, epoxids, and silikon rubber. They will learn the basics of welding, wood machining and wood cutting with a chainsaw. (Health and safety issues). They will be also introduced to other, untraditional sculpting materials. The course also encompasses the basics of 3D technologies.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will have a basic orientation in 3D technologies (3D printing, CNC machining, tec), they will know about different methods and technologies of postprocessing of the models in connection with the use of new materials.

Prerequisites

Students must masted basic sculpting technologies, plus the basic knowledge of 3D technologies is welcome (but not a condition).

Course curriculum

1. New sculpting materials: plastic, composite fibres, carbon fibres
2. New 3D technologies, their use for the manufacture of the model and the object
3. Postprocessing of the models create with new technologies
4. Infiltration, cementing, grinding, varnishing, spray-painting
5. New surfaces - metalization - metal coating, galvanization, dying
