Company Management

The course Business Management focuses on management and developing it with modern approaches, which are implemented in management now and will be in near future. Next to short historical excursion, approaches of acknowledged theoreticians and practicians and different approaches of modern management will be introduced.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will be able to identify complexly and analyse risks critically, implement and evaluate assumed actions in firms and organisations from the point of firm management’s view.
Students will learn modern conception and application of management, including historical context and options of leadership, time management, process management, and application of some managerial models.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching is carried out through lectures and seminars. Lectures consist of interpretations of basic principles, methodology of given discipline, problems and their exemplary solutions. Seminars particularly support practical mastery of subject matter presented in lectures or assigned for individual study with the active participation of students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Conditions of granting the course-unit credit:
1. Active participation in exercises, during presentations followed by discussion over seminar work
2. Successful completion of a credit test.
3. Successful elaboration of semestral work in previously set deadline.
4. Successful elaboration of case studies.


Students have an opportunity to acquire points for:
- individual semestral work
- elaboration of tasks related to the studies
- elaboration of partial tasks
- control test


Conditions for passing an exam:
The course-unit credit granting is a necessary condition for passing an exam.
Knowledge of taught topics and their practical application.
Form of examination: written and oral parts. Oral examination is applied by the teacher if the result of the written part is irresolute.

Aims

Students will learn theoretical fundamentals and methodical approaches to management, fundamental terms, concepts, structuralisation and practical use – focused on risk – engineering. Objective of the course is to recommend necessary approaches for management problem solving, first of all for business organisations.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Active participation in presented topics of seminar works, participation in discussion, high-quality presentation of semester work on given topic, knowledge test.

Attendance at lessons and exercises: 13x 4 hours (52 hours)

In case of excused absence from seminars, the teacher can set an additional condition if appropriate, usually elaboration of a partial written task.
