Power and Control Electronics

Control electronics:
Bipolar transistor: characteristics, linear regime, working point adjustment. Reference voltage sources, constant current sources. Operational amplifiers: characteristics, typical applications of OA. Digital integrated circuits: TTL, C-MOS, memories. D/A converters, A/D converters.
Power electronics:
Thermal effects, cooling of power semiconductors. Effective mechanical power, effective electrical power. Rectifiers. AC/AC converters. DC/DC converters. DC/AC converters. Converter control: Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). Electrical and mechanical properties of AC drives with induction machine and synchronous machine. Power switching devices: diode, thyristor, triac, bipolar transistor, MOS-FET, IGBT, GTO. Properties, maximum parameters, range of application.
