Workshop - Bachelor Project

FSI-6APAcad. year: 2018/2019

Depending on the assigned task of bachelor project, students work out a complex design project of a middle complexity, including the drawing documentation, visualization, three-dimensional model and cover reports, as a follow-up to the subject “Workshop – Bachelor Project Seminar”.
The course has been upgraded with the support of the OPVK project. "The Studio digital sculpture and new media project", reg. No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0278, is co-financed by the European Social Fund and the statebudget of the Czech Republic.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students demonstrate a complex design project of a middle complexity and its presentation.

Prerequisites

Knowledge acquired in courses of the previous study is expected. Completion of courses "Workshop - Product Design I-II" is assumed.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Supervised student's work on bachelor's thesis.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Graded course-unit credit requirements: compulsory attendance at lessons, consultations with the lecturer at individually scheduled hours. Attitude to the given topic, completeness and quality (sketches, variant design, working models, visualizations, format studies of sketches, etc.), and meeting assigned projects deadlines are evaluated.
Resulting evaluation consists of evaluations on projects. In total it will be possible to aquire 100 points. Resulting classification will be defined by the ECTS scale.
If some of the projects are awarded less than half of the maximum pts., final evaluation of the course is "failed".
According to the article No. 13 of Study and Examination Rules of Brno University of Technology ECTS evaluation degree scale is used. . If some of the projects are awarded less than 50 pts., final evaluation of the course is "failed". The course is evaluated with the following grades: ECTS EVALUATION DEGREES / PTS. RATING / NUMERIC RATING: A / 100 - 90 / 1 / Excellent; B /89 - 80 / 1,5 / Very good; C / 79 - 70 / 2 / Good; D / 69 - 60 / Satisfactory; E / 59 - 50 / Sufficient; F / 49 - 0 / 4 / Failed.

Aims

Students have to create a complex design project, which will reflect the experience from their previous study of industrial design. They will be familiarized with given theme and the correct definition of the correlation: human – machine – environment. The aim is also to verify level of previously gained knowledge and skills in terms of digitally created design.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

The attendance in workshop is controlled. Students have to be present in scheduled hours in the workshop, work on assigned projects and wait for consultation, unless a lecturer gives other individual plan. Students are obliged to inform the lecturer in advance about his/her working-place in the scheduled education time (studio, workshops, modelling room) - as absence is not excused without this information. The excuse of absence is possible only due serious reasons such as illness. Unexcused absence or the total absence greater than 50% (including excused absence) may jeopardise accepting a project.
