Knowledge from field of general education is required, on whose basis student passed the admission procedure.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
- Lectures have character of explanation accompanied with listening of recordings.
- Exercises support practical acquiring of themes presented at lectures in form of practical work with active participation of students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Evaluation of study results follows Rules for Studies and Examinations of BUT and Dean's Regulation to the Rules for Studies and Examinations of BUT. Credit is given for successful demonstration of knowledge in an interview. Credit is awarded for successful completion of a written test that consists of 100 questions, each worth 1 point. To be successful, it is necessary to obtain at least 60 points.

Aims
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic concepts of music theory necessary for further study of (eg. Scales, intervals, chords, chord turnovers), basic introduction to musical instruments.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
To obtain the credit it is necessary to complete at least 10 exercises during semester. Other forms of the checked instructions are specified by a regulation issued by the guarantee of the course and updated for every academic year.
