Course detail
Information and Control Systems in Power Engineering
FEKT-LIRSAcad. year: 2018/2019
The course deals with the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the energy sector. Emphasis is placed on basic concepts of information systems, communications equipment, data transmission networks, secure communication, encryption methods. They will learn the elements of modern computer networks, the most common network services, industrial networks and industrial interfaces. For more information about the content of the IS architecture client-server, database systems, control systems in nuclear power plant, where students learn a general overview of the systems and their interconnection, deployment and use of control systems. Are discussed further technology SCADA systems, data visualization methods, types and representatives of logic programmable controllers, industrial control systems, measurement and actuators, parameterization tools and programming of control systems. If possible, external speakers, students are occasionally introduced to real systems and their use in planning and evaluating the management of en. resources through the eSADA or. in the presentation of the information system for monitoring TechMon maintenance of technical equipment.

Aims
In this course students learn the basic principles of information and control systems, the most commonly used topologies and applications implemented in power plants or dispatch centers. substations. Use of computer technology, modern means of communication in the energy sector is an inevitable process of modernization of existing power facilities and is commonplace in new equipment. Students should have an idea to what extent and on what principles these systems work in practice. Students will learn about modern approaches to management of complex energy systems and will be able to work with simple control systems that learn to program themselves.
