Course detail

Road accident analysis I

ÚSI-1EBANAcad. year: 2018/2019

The subject acquaints students with the basics of vehicle movement mechanics, with system concept of the road accident analysis and it teaches them applying this knowledge to particular situations.

Language of instruction

Czech

Number of ECTS credits

5

Mode of study

Learning outcomes of the course unit

After completing this course, the students will be able to place the technical road accident analysis among other disciplines, define primary quantities and units, terminology, tire tracks and their documentation and identification, define basic relations, laws of motion, forces affecting the vehicle, parameters of a person and his role in road accidents, vehicle parameters, forces, tires and their models, parameters of surroundings, dynamic vehicle parameters. They will also be able to analyse damage and the correspondence of the damage, diagrams trajectory – time, trajectory – velocity etc., interval diagrams, avert the accidents and analyse accidents with pedestrians and bicyclists. Further, the will be capable of applying this knowledge to the road accident analysis.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching is carried out through lectures and seminars. Lectures consist of interpretations of basic principles, methodology of given discipline, problems and their exemplary solutions. Seminars particularly support practical mastery of subject matter presented in lectures or assigned for individual study with the active participation of students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Credit conditions - obtaining at least 150 points out of 200 possible (2 × 50 continuous test in about the 5th and 9th week of the semester, 100 per semester project).
