Learning outcomes of the course unit

The knowledge in dam engineering and water power. Elaboration of schemes of dam and hydropower plant. The graduates get basic knowledge, which enables them to solve under supervision and then individually the problems related to design and realization of dams and structures required for water power energy utilization

Prerequisites

Basics of hydraulics, hydrology, hydro-technical structures I, structures foundation, earth mechanics, geology, realization of structures, mechanics, static, elasticity and resistance, basics of design of concrete, steal and timber structures.

Co-requisites

soil mechanics - hydraulics - hydrology - foundation engineering

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures, practical classes and self-study assignments. Attendance at lectures is optional, but attendance at classes is compulsory.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

100% presence, exceptionally 2 seminars - apologized, for exam the credit is necessary, for positive evaluation at least partial knowledge in each question (2-dams, 1-hydropower)

Course curriculum
