Technology of Building Elements

The principles of concrete building elements manufacture. Classification and marking of elements, methods of production, typifying, in site production and production line manufacture. Legislative and the concerning standards for the production and for market introduction.
The main production system of building elements and the subsystems classification of by-production. Unloading, transport and storing of materials – aggregates, powder materials, steel, half - finished products and admixtures in concrete. Steel reinforcement manufacture - straightening, cutting, welding, reinforcement baskets manufacture.
Concrete mixture preparation - dosing of components, conveying of fresh concrete, recycling of fresh concrete. Preparation of manufacturing moulds- moulds and moulds parts design. Special moulds.
Preparation of moulds for further operations - cleaning, separation paintings, moulds rectifying, prestressing of reinforcement.
Forming and compacting – storing of concrete mixture and reinforcement, compacting, acceleration of concrete hardening, final treatment of shaping, storing, dispatching.
Prestressed concrete elements - prestressing methods, kinds and utilization of prestressed elements.
Surface treatment of elements. Ceramic - concrete elements. Products for canalization, pavement, other concrete products manufactured by pressing-, vibrating- and centrifuging technology.
Vibrating compacting technology and pressing of building elements.
Manufacture of atypical elements for transport and structural engineering.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The aim of study is to acquaint the students with basic systems of prefabricated building units production for home, residential, industrial, engineering construction and roads building. The students are step by step acquainted with partial problems of prefabricated elements production (transport, storing of input raw materials, manufacture of concrete, production of reinforcements, and production forms. The student will get detailed information concerning compacting and hardening acceleration of concrete. Partial technological operations will be described for manufacture of individual building elements production technology, including machinery

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.Teaching methods lectures and laboratory exercises completed reports on measurements

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

85% participation in all laboratory exercises. Term ends with a written test.
The test has written for the preparation of a mandatory oral.

Syllabus

1.General parameters of vibration, impact vibration to the concrete. Basic concepts - amplitude, frequency, centrifugal force.
2.The influence of centrifugal force on the properties of concrete.
3.Acceleration of hardening concrete. Description of different types of accelerating hardening - acceleration using elevated temperatures, additives accelerating hardening of cement and cement with a higher strength class. Description of technology for accelerating hardening of concrete.
4.Influence of water on properties of concrete with constant centrifugal force and frequency of vibration. Design of concrete composition with three different water-cement ratio, determining the consistency of fresh concrete by VeBe, measuring the vibration. Production of specimens for determination of bulk density and compressive strength of concrete. Theoretical calculations of vibration parameters on the basis of the data obtained.
5.Effect of centrifugal force on the properties of concrete with vertical vibration. Production of concrete, determining the consistency of concrete by VeBe. Recording the vibrations at different centrifugal force 1,25, 2,5 and 5,0 kN. Determination of bulk density and compressive strength of the produced specimens. Theoretical calculations of vibration parameters compared with the obtained values.
6.Effect of centrifugal force on the properties of concrete in horizontal vibration. Production of concrete, determining the consistency of concrete by VeBe. Recording the vibrations at different centrifugal force of 1,25, 2,5 and 5,0 kN. Determination of bulk density and compressive strength of the produced specimens. Theoretical calculations of vibration parameters compared with the obtained values.
7.Effect of pressing pressure on the properties of fresh and hardened concrete. Manufacture of concrete to the desired consistency, with 60 VeBe, compacting concrete using a vibrating table and pressing weights of different weight. Determine the effect of different weights on the density and compressive strength of hardened concrete.
8.Effect of accelerating the hardening of its properties. Production of concrete and the subsequent assessment of concrete on which was faster early strength concrete due to the use of cement CEM I 42,5 R, chemical additives accelerating the hardening and hardening of cement and the influence of elevated temperatures. Comparison of concrete properties after 1, 7 and 28 days of ripening.
9.Testing of concrete products of vibropressed concrete. Description and an assessment of the physical and mechanical parameters of concrete products produced by vibrating. Testing of concrete paving blocks, slabs and curbs.
10.Effect of pigment properties on concrete. Production of concrete with added color pigment to concrete and compared the properties of fresh and hardened concrete with concrete reference, made without the addition of pigment. Assessment of the impact of particular pigment on the workability of fresh concrete and basic physical and mechanical properties of hardened concrete.
