CISCO Academy 1 - CCNA

The course is divided into two parts. The first part covers the CCNA curriculum Introduction to Networks that deals with fundamentals of IP networking. The second part covers the CCNA curriculum Routing and Switching Essentials that deals with routing and switching in IP networks. Practicals include planning and building of small IP networks.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The student should be able to:
- describe basic entities for network communication,
- describe OSI and TCP/IP models,
- explain purpose and principle of communication protocols,
- describe Ethernet technology,
- develop IP addressing schemes,
- implement a network using routers and switches,
- explain operation of router,
- explain operation of switch,
- implement static and dynamic routing,
- implement basic security of networking devices,
- configure DHCP,
- configure NAT.

Students should be able to work with English literature.

The teaching methods include lectures and practical laboratories. The course uses e-learning system Moodle.

Aims

The course introduces the basic principles of network communication. Two courses of Cisco academy CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) are covered.

Building simple network, remote access to switch using TELNET, using Wireshark to analyse network traffic, making Ethernet cable, analysis of MAC addresses, using Wireshark to analyse Ethernet frames, analysis of ARP protocol, using IOS CLI, analysis of switching table, analysis of routing table, building switch and router network IPv4, using Wireshark to analyse TCP/IP connection, using Wireshark to analyse DNS system, analysis of IPv6, building switch and router network IPv6, design and subnetting IP networks, accessing network devices using SSH, securing network devices, managing router configuration using terminal connection, data backup using TFTP, configuring and securing VLAN, configuring TRUNK connection between switches, configuring VLAN routing, configuring VLAN routing using TRUNK connection, configuring static IPv4 routing, configuring static IPv6 routing, configuring dynamic routing using RIPv2 RIPng, configuring dynamic routing using OSPFv2; filtering network traffic using basic ACL lists, filtering network traffic using extended ACL lists, configuring network configuration assignment using DHCP, configuring static and dynamic IP address translation NAT, configuring port translation PAT.
