The course is intended to teach English as a foreign language at professional level. It focuses on enlarging and practising vocabulary used in finance.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

a) Understand financial English
b) Use written and spoken English for general and business communication with particular emphasis paid to financial environments.
c) Solve problems in simulated financial business situations in English.
d) Identify, retrieve and synthesize information in English.

Course is intended for students who are familiar with the language at the intermediate level.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course it taught by means of language lessons focused on practicing language skills and developing vocabulary. It includes also individual work of students in the elearning environment.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Course-unit credit is awarded on condition of regular attendance, active participation and having worked out assigned tasks. Students are obliged to take a written exam (minimum score to pass is 50%). The exam has one regular term and one resit. For second resit see Dean's Directive 3/2014.

Cílem kurzu je dále rozvíjet jazykovou vybavenost studentů v mluveném i psaném projevu nejen z hlediska gramatiky a slovní zásoby, ale i v oblasti komunikačních strategií nezbytných pro pracovní uplatnění v současném mezinárodním pracovním prostředí.

Students’ participation in seminars is compulsory and their work is systematically controlled. Absence may be compensated for by the agreement with the teacher.
