Business Systems

The course provides information from the area of development, design and implementation of corporate information systems in all stages of their life cycle. The course gives an overview of the current IT / ICT systems and their superstructures, DSS features of the solution components, systems for the support of top management (EIS), APS systems, knowledge systems).

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will obtain basic skills and knowledge necessary for specifying requirements for an information system, its analyses, design and implementation. Students will be able to co-ordinate activities when implementing information systems in companies.

Prerequisites

Secondary school knowledge of informatics and knowledge of database systems using.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course contains lectures that explain basic principles, problems and methodology of the discipline, and seminars that promote the practical knowledge of the subject presented in the lectures.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The course-unit credit is awarded on condition of having attended all practicals and presented a semester project. The exam has a written and an oral part. Final grade will reflect the exam result (70%) and the mark given for the semester project (30%).

Course curriculum

Lectures:
1 - Introduction to enterprise information systems
2-3 - Methods of information systems analysis and use of SW tools (BPMS Systems)
4-5 - Methodologies of information system design and development
6 - Preparation of information system project, its implementation, operation, maintenance and development of information systems
7-8 - Information support of documentation design and management, workflow
9-10 - Systems for support of production processes planning and control and their methods
11 - Information support for procurement and customer relationship management processes
12 - Manufacturing execution systems (operational level)
13 - Systems for control of support processes in company

Seminars:
Cvičení navazují na odpřednášenou látku. Studenti pracují formou praktické případové studie zaměřené na řízení průběhu zakázky s jednotlivými systémy a aplikacemi ICT (systémy PLM, ERP, MES) s využitím BPMS systému.
Students work in the form of a practical case study focused on order management with concrete ICT systems and applications (PLM, ERP, MES) using BPMS system.

Aims

The objective of the course is to make students familiar with theoretical methods, methodologies and the use of information systems in the frame of a company management.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at lectures is not compulsory, but is recommended. Attendance at seminars is compulsory and controlled. Absence from seminars can be compensated for via consultations with the tutor.
