Production Management

The aim of the course is to provide theoretic, operational and organizational and management categories, concepts, models and management techniques, terminology and methodology of incomes, transformation and output items of product process. The course provides the knowledge of techniques of utilization of available resources in a dynamically evolving conditions of a market relations and ways of rational use of human factors in production. The subject provides knowledge How to use linkages of engineering and production process for realization changes by acquiring of required outputs and efficiency in terms of strategy, tactics and surgery.
It integrates manufacturing processes into industrial engineering and focuses on product lifecycle management.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Subject the student passes the competence management process at the strategic level.
Student will acquire knowledge of and skills with the data bases for production planning.Measuring the productivity and production costs. Productivity of production.Operating control of production. Production capacity balance. Calculations of projecting a production system.Technical–economic standards of consumption. Order progression.Components production working time. Working time of a complicated product.Technical servicing of production. Tools management. Care for production base. Totally productive maintenance. Prerequisites

Student is expected to have the following knowledge and skills when he/she begins in course of Production Management: basic economic approaches (macroeconomics indicators, market characteristics – demand, supply, costs curves etc.). Students have to be familiar with the economy of company and specific mathematic discipline, i.e. Decision-making.Students are expected to have the knowledge acquired within the bachelors study programme in the area of production planning in specific manufacture sector (working out technical documentation - project, construction and, technology of a new or innovated product).
At the same time the student has a basic knowledge of production management from the calculation of the production capacity of work, production lead time components of the project and the production system.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
Lectures will be proceeded with using of didactical technique by using Power Pointe.
Seminars will take place as well as computational laboratory for the use of the product OR-Systém
To obtain an overview of the use of knowledge in practice and excursions in manufacturing enterprises

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Course-unit credit is awarded on condition of having attended all required seminars, seminars in a computer lab and excursion in an industrial enterprise. The exam has a written and an oral part. Written exam consists of solutions of exercises and the theory. The exam is 50 minutes long.Oral exam verifies the mark given for the written part and makes the final grade more accurate.For awarding grade E it is necessary to process examples up to the numerical formulation and prove minimum knowledge of theory - e.g. additional tasks related to the theoretical approaches answered orally.

Approach to production process and order management. Lecture by a practitioner.
Strategic production management. Provision of production resources. Components of production strategy.
Planning standards (production batch, stocks of work in progress, production capacity, continuous production time).
Ensuring production by factors of production. Deciding on scheduling a production task
Calculation of work in progress norms.
Continuous production time of the order
Ensuring continuity of the production process. Technical service of production.
Production base care systems. Totally productive maintenance. EOO
Energy management. Material manipulation
Operational planning and operational evidence of production - PLM, LCM.
PPS, APS systems and links to SCM.

Aims

The main aim of the course is to provide the student with basic knowledge and skills for the management of the production process with regard to the development of production management in the world of globalized service production, the mastering of the latest techniques and methods for designing and operating the production systems. To teach the student to decide on the production program, to secure resources for its realization from the point of view of material resources, capacity resources, time commitment and economy and performance of production processes, production systems as well as results of production and services. Ensure knowledge and implementation of IT / ICT products into production processes within the enterprise and logistics chains (networks).
Create the conditions for Word Class Manufacturing through a lean manufacturing process and digitization

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance is required and checked by the tutor especially at seminars in a computer lab and at excursion.
Two lectures by practitioners are mandatory. Absence from seminars in a computer lab has to be compensated for by attending a special term of seminar in a computer lab. Absence from excursion may be compensated for via working out a written report of the excursion in another manufacturing company in size of 6 pages.
