Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching takes the form of lectures, exercises and laboratory exercises.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Participation in the exercises is compulsory. Requirements for credit are students' attendance at seminars and completion and processing of assigned tasks.
The final exam is written and consists of 10 questions per 10 points.

Course curriculum

1. Basic terminology of machining. Theoretical fundamentals of machining
2. Physical foundations of the cutting process - chip formation, surface formation
3. Tooling materials - steel, sintered carbides, ceramics, diamond, etc.
4. Power analysis, heat, residual stress and other accompanying phenomena of the cutting process
5. Fundamentals of turning - outer and inner surfaces
6. Basics of milling - flat, corner, milling, copying, special
7. Drilling, boring, drilling, reaming.
8. Fundamentals of forming and laws of plastic deformation
9. Manufacture of metallurgical products - sheets, tubes, profiles and wires
10. Sheet cutting technology
11. Bending technology
12. Draw technology of circular and square pieces
13. Dies forging technology
