Fluid Engineering

The aim of the course is to present the basic properties of fluids and flow and their usage in different industrial and agricultural applications.
Basic equations of hydrodynamics are the starting point for the analysis and description of principles of hydraulic and pneumatic elements, machines and mechanisms.

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.

Syllabus

The conception of macroscopic element. The motion equation of macroscopic element. The Euler and Lagrange continuum theory. Bernoulli equation, dissipation function, cavitations, beneficial work of viscous forces. The disc pump principle. The forces on the through flow solid surface and element. The jet application. The Pelton turbine principle. Compressibility of fluid, the weight conservation law application for the jet and air lift pump. Wave equation, water hammer, the application on the hydraulic ram principle and the steady flow measuring. The sound waves transmission in he liquid.

Gas accumulators and its characteristics. The water hammer application - the hydraulic ram.
