Survey of the genres and methods of theoretical debate on architecture. Differentiation of the historically conditioned and the permanent in this debate on the example of the significant Western conceptions from the Antiquity to the 21th century. Selected topics important at the present time.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student will manage the goal of the subject, i.e. knowledge of the ideological background of architectural design, architecture and philosophy, criticism in architecture, development of concepts, style, taste, fashion.

Prerequisites

The subject applies the knowledge of the history of architecture including the contemporary architecture and, in the selected connections, it refers to the architectonic composition principles.
