Learning outcomes of the course unit

bility to use information from the field of hydrobiology in solving technical tasks in the field of chemistry and technology of environmental protection. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to solve complex technological tasks in the creative ways, where chemical, biological and physical processes intersect. He will also be acquainted with the importance of biological processes both in water management and in related fields of environmental protection and creation. He / she will be able to assess solved tasks with sufficient interdisciplinary approach, will be able to choose the optimal solution of various problems and can understand and develop possibilities of using biological methods.

By passing the subject, the student will acquire new knowledge, knowledge and knowledge in the following areas:

1. Students will be able to apply knowledge in related fields, such as water treatment and wastewater treatment;
2. Students will acquire knowledge of life processes in natural waters and also obtain basic biotechnological knowledge related to water treatment and purification;
3. Students will acquire the knowledge and knowledge necessary to understand basic biological processes that occur in natural waters (primary production, eutrophication, stratification of water quality in tanks, succession, food preferences, saprobiology, biomanipulation, etc.);
4. Students gain knowledge that is a prerequisite for application in both scientific and technical practice;
5. Students will focus on the interaction of different components of the aquatic environment.

Prerequisites

Aims

The aim of the course is to get the students acquainted with the basics of hydrobiology and limnology. This should make easy to communicate with other professionals in the mainly in the field of water management (environmental protection,landscape planning etc.). Students will also have enough information to use biological methods in processes of biological wastewater treatment and biological methods of drinking water treatment.
