The knowledge gained presents introduction to a deeper theoretical research, and will be made use of in urban planning practice and in urban development management

Basic knowledge of urbanism and the city development.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on teachers requests. The teaching process consists of students seminary work focused on contemporary city (city district)development problem.

Final eaxm is related with seminary work topic.

Urbanism and urban planning, terms and relations, urban planning instruments in Czech republic.
Town develpoment history, urban planning history. Contemporary city, its functional, transport and space organisation.
Actual problems and phenomenons (brownfields, suburbanisation, urban sprawl, shrinking cities)
Urbanisation and its phases, principles and relations.
Brownfields - features and examples
Sustainable cities development.
Brno - development.

The aim of the subject's study is to gain the theoretical and methodical knowledge needed for formulating urban development concepts.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Continuously consultated seminary work focused on contemporary city (city district, urban project) development problem according the students choice.
