Bachelor Project A1

Creative studio work is the main and essential means of teaching architecture. It is based on the "learning by doing" method, i.e. gaining knowledge and skills by practical application. It consists in the dialogue of the teacher with the student over a project that is being developed. A Bachelor project is to prove the student's knowledge and skills gained on a uniform level assignment. In case of BP1 it is an assignment with respect to principles of the cultural heritage.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

By defending the work prepared in the course the student proves the ability to design constructions of any type, as employee of a design office.
Students will develop the ability to make of the work, which corresponds to the architectural study and meets the requirements of the thesis.

Prerequisites

The assignment of the bachelor thesis can be obtained only after completing all other compulsory and compulsory elective courses in the bachelor program “Architecture and Urbanism”.
For successful completion of the bachelor thesis knowledge of and skills in general typology, design of residential buildings, design of buildings for temporary accommodation, design of public buildings, design of industrial buildings, knowledge of problems of interior design of architectural space, and ability to apply the gained knowledge and skills in practice are required.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

In order to complete the course, it is necessary to submit the complete work in time according to the assignment and the Rules for Study at FA.

Course curriculum

The student systematically prepares the bachelor thesis according to the assignment. Work takes 12 weeks. This is an independent work, regularly consulted with the supervisor and other experts.

Aims

The bachelor design is to prove the student's ability to apply the knowledge and skills gained in the study to specialised typological disciplines.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Obligatory attendance at one consultation per week as specified by the supervisor. Obligatory participation in two ongoing criticisms. Submission of the project according to the assignment and meeting the pre-set deadline for submitting the project according to FA Study Rules.
The specific terms of the above-mentioned compulsory education, or further compulsory attendance beyond its scope, may be specified in more detail by the supervisor in the assignment. The assignment must be published on the FA Intranet at the same time as the topic annotations are published (before students register).
