Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Lectures 2h/week, seminars 2h/week, e-learning LMS Moodle is available. Seminars will be orginzed as the excursions to selected companies (compulsory).

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

written examination, "E" and better is given if 50% and more questions are answered

1. Introduction and historical overview
2.-3.Waste management, legislation in Czech republic and EU.
4. Cirkular economy, principles, approaches, examples.
5.- 6. Life cycle assesment, approaches, examples.
7. Waste analysis.
8. Waste from mining and metallurgy.
9. Waste from industry, pharmacy and paper production.
10. Waste from agricultural activities, gastro-waste, legislation.
11. Haushold waste, legislation.
12. -13. Conventional and alternative waste treatment technologies.
14. Devices used in waste treatment technologies.

Aims

The aim is to give students the information on current and planned legislation of waste management, WM strategies, WM companies, principles and examples of circula economy, methods of Life cycle assesment, issues of collecting, separation, transport, recycling or waste disposal. Next, students will learn about types of waste, the disposal technologies and strategies. part of the course will be also devoted to waste analysis. As a part of education are planned excursions to several companies dealing with waste disposal.
