Special devices for healthcare and ecology

Principles and solutions of therapeutic devices (electro-treatment, using of the laser, using of the ultrasound, diathermy, cryogenic technique, using of the ionize radiation). Systems for support and replacement of organs. Monitoring and support systems of life functions. Rehabilitation and prothetic devices. Technical approach to maitanance and recovery of environment.

Students will acquire the practical knowledge about selected therapeutic devices for the health care and for the ecology.

The aim of the lectures is introduce the students to principles of selected special devices which are used for in medicine and ecology.

Methods and construction of the ultrasound surgery systems for application at ophtalmology, urology and orthopaediscs.
Methods and construction of the ultrasound and highfrequnecy hyperthermy, types of applicators.
Methods and construction of devices for radiotheraphy by accelerated particles and Gama - rays (accelerators and methods of the radiosurgery - Leksell gama knife). Simulators and the dose planning.
Methods and systems for cryosurgery and laser surgery.
Methods and construction of systems for heart and kidney support (extracorporal blood circulation - cardiopulmonal and renal, types of pacemakers).
Methods and construction of devices for vision and hearing support. Neural replacements.
Principles and construction of diagnostic systems for gastroentherology and urology.
Principles and construction of endoscopes: flexible endoscope, CCD and ultrasound endo-video cameras.
Principles and construction of monitoring systems for intensive care unit, neonatal systems, cardiotocographs.
Principles and methods for biochemistry laboratories.
Aids for handicaped persons.
Materials and construction of aids for protection against ionize radiation, electromagnetic field, noise, vibrations, high voltage and toxic materials.

Design of a simple function generator using Mororola MHC11 microprocessor.
Desing of a simple generator for electrotherapy using the Motorola MHC11 microprocessor.
Design of a detector for measurement of the spurious electric field.
Using of Motorola MHC 11 microprocessor as ananalog/digital converter (in cooperation with the previous example).
Design of the power supply for the Geige-Müller tube (for transportable equipment).
Desing of an active filter.
