Linguistic and pragmatic meanings and their application in translating practice. Cultural aspects of meaning. The importance of professional knowledge in translating. Main mistakes in translating. Various approaches to translating.

Aims
To learn and train the appropriate approches to English-Czech and Czech-English translations. To emphasize the differences in syntax and similarities in lexis.

The content and forms of instruction in the evaluated course are specified by a regulation issued by the lecturer responsible for the course and updated for every academic year.
Semester last 13 weeks. Attendence on seminars is compulsory. Minimal level of attendence is set to 75%. If exceeded, missed lessons have to be substituted.
