Teaching takes the form of lectures, exercises and laboratory exercises.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Students will obtain credit on the basis of processed laboratory protocols (maximum 40 bits) and computer test (max. 10 b). To obtain a credit, the student must earn a minimum. 25 b.
Written exam (max 50 pts)

1. Crystal structure of metals
2. Phases and phase diagrams
3. Iron-carbon alloys
4. Heat treatment of metals
5. Production of steels. Non-alloy steels
6. Alloy steels
7. Alloys of non-ferrous metals
8. Basic machining methods, basic concepts, conventional and unconventional technologies
9. Basic principles and usability of available Rapid Prototyping technologies
10. Basic technologies in surface and volume forming
11. Welding technology
12. The nature of foundry, casting technology and their use in industrial practice
13. Metallurgy of alloys of iron and non-ferrous metals and alloys for the production of castings.

Aims

Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of this course is to acquire basic knowledge about technical materials and to gain a connection between them
chemical composition, internal structure and utility properties. The course content provides students with an overview of
technologies for processing materials used in industrial practice
