The subject DY01 comprises elaboration and consultation of abstract of the PhD project and oral exam in the form of presentation and discussion.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Skill in reading technical literature of his/her field of study, in writing and giving a paper.

Skill in carrying on a professional dialogue.

Prerequisites

Mastery of General English; completed DY02 course where students study the terminology from a specialist publication which concerns their topic of PhD dissertation; hand in a written assigment: summary of the main ideas gained from the studied publication and its relevance to the topic of student's dissertation.
To get the knowledge of academic English necessary for writing research papers and presenting it is recommended to attend the subjects BYA11 Academic writing and BYA12 Academic Skills.

Course curriculum

To register for the exam, students will send email to their teacher of DY02 Language Tutoring.
Students will elaborate an abstract of their current work on their PhD project, send it to the teacher and ask for consultation.
The exam date is individual on agreement with the teacher.
The exam is oral and has the form of a presentation and discussion.
