Workshop - Industrial Design V

FSI-YPPAcad. year: 2020/2021

Design project is taken as a prerequisite of diploma project. It comes from the knowledge gained in practice and analyses. The students are lead to design a number of variants, to search for possible solutions of given topic. This approach can help the students in finding unusual approaches to solving projects, never published and realized. Solutions with design and elements with possible application in the near future are welcome.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The student gain the ability to work with design project. Knowledge gained during work on pre-diploma project serves as the initial analytical material for theoretical part of diploma project. Focus of project comes from real or presupposed requirements of production and research-development fields; it tries to reflect the reality and practice of our society.

Prerequisites

Students are expected to have mastered both the drawing and moulding as well as the basic spatial creation, art composition and realisation of three-dimensional models (mock-ups). Students are also expected to have the knowledge of the design solution of both simple and more complicated industrial products. Understanding the function, technical and technological aspects of given topics is necessary for a qualified solution. Praxis in both the 2D and 3D programmes (Adobe, Rhinoceros etc.) is necessary.

Co-requisites

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Creative work in ateliers.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Graded course-unit credit requirements: active participation in lectures, development of first four chapters of diploma thesis with defined structure and range (introduction, current state of knowledge, analysis of the problem, goal of the thesis, variant studies of design). Summarizing poster for each variant study, conceptual models of two selected variants. Continuous presentation and final presentation summarizing results of semester work.
