Analysis, assessment and management of risks of technical systems

The course “Analysis, assessment and management of risks in technical systems” will be provided by the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Chemistry. It covers the following topics: modelling of the properties of load-bearing structures, consideration of the randomness of input parameters when designing a structure; impact loading, the importance of risk analysis for accident and crisis situations affecting technical systems; methods of risk analysis and their application; algorithms for the assessment and evaluation of technical risks, the modelling of fire propagation in buildings. The relationship between risk analysis and the analysis of available means.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will study the issues related to this subject and master the defined aims of the subject. They will become acquainted with the issues dealt with in the course and practice the obtained knowledge and skills.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Tuition takes place in the form of lectures and seminars. The lectures focus on the explanation of basic principles, the methods of the given discipline, problems and example solutions. The seminars mainly support practical mastery of the subject matter presented in lectures or assigned for individual study with the active participation of students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The condition for the award of the credit is the written production of a semestral project assigned by the subject tutor after agreement with the guarantor of the subject. The requirements for the written exam are based on the subject syllabus.
