The course prepares students for writing their Bachelor thesis. They learn methods of investigation, how to create academic genre, and also formal rules given by the faculty.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The course prepares students for the composition of their Bachelor theses. Methods of investigation and rules of writing Bachelor thesis are introduced and trained. The course builds on information of the previous course of academic writing. Students will write the main ideas of their Bachelor theses.

Teaching methods depend on the type of a course unit as specified in Article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

The main ideas of the planned Bachelor thesis are he output of the course.

Course curriculum

Topic of the thesis, consultations, schedule. description of the topic and formulating of 2-3 basic research objectives. Procedure description, methodology and preliminary list of primary sources. Preliminary list of handbooks, articles, books and www pages. If necessary, field sources. Working bibliography of approx. 20 basic sources. Annotations to 10 basic sources. Information databse (an arranged system of notes in an appropriate format according to the nature of the topic). Oral presentation of the thesis.

Aims

The objective of the course is to teach students methods of investigation and format of Bachelor thesis, use of references. The course will also use skills and knowledge from other courses, namely. Written Professional Texts and Presentations.

The content and forms of instruction in the evaluated course are specified by a regulation issued by the lecturer responsible for the course and updated for every academic year.
