Urbanism - Territorial Planning

The subject closes the teaching of the disciplines of urban design in the bachelor degree study program. It is focused on land use planning and the issues of implementing urban development plans in an area. The subject consists of two parts. The first one covers land planning legislature and selected detailed issues of preparing, making and negotiating a land use plan. The students gain basic orientation in land use planning and urban development management. In the second part of the subject, consisting of separate lectures, the students get acquainted with selected topical issues and assignments of urban development practice, with their various aspects and potential approaches to their solution.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Detailed knowledge of contemporary urban planning problems and prospective urban development trends.

Prerequisites

Theoretical and practical knowledge of problems and ability to solve them, needed for architectural design activity.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Written exam. Final classification shall include 1/3 seminar evaluation, 2/3 written exam classification. In both parts it is necessary to gain more than one half of points otherwise the exam is not convenient. Results of control tests (max. 5 points) are bonus that is added to gained amount of points (up to 100 points).

Introduction to the territorial scheduling (conception,system,legislature, administration).
Territory and his regulation.
Inquiries and analyses.
Tools territorial scheduling (UPP,UPD,territorial decision ).
Processing UPD.
Evaluation urban design proposal.
Fundamentals territorial urban planning.
Fundamentals territorial scheduling provincial seats.
Exigencies on development territory - fundamentals balance sheet work.
Participace public.
Information on territory - statistics, ISU, geodesy and cartography.
GIS.

Aims

Students are familiarized with urbanistic building typology, devices and housing elements, commercial and non-commercial equipment, technical facilities and transportation. During lessons and seminars students also acquire basics of urbanistic designing and are prepared for managing basic urbanistic studio.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Concept of each task and final study turn in. 80% of practice teaching is mandatory, 20% is not necessary to substitute. Control tests in lessons.
