Respect down to the (academic) ground

Course is a practice-oriented, interactive workshop designed to provide students with information and tools that form the preventionand teach how to address sexual harassment, bullying and violence in the academia. Course will explore all aspects of sexual harassment and violence - both from university employees and from fellow students. Students will discuss what to do if they witness problematic behavior, who to turn to when they are victims themselves, and most importantly they will learn how to treat each other with respect.
They will try out model situations, learn practical information from the Czech Republic and abroad, share their attitudes and opinions, and all leave a little better prepared to not be part of the problem.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Completion of the course should help students to navigate the topic of sexual harassment and violence and desensitize them in this regard. The course will strengthen their ability to critically assess situations and their ability to safely address these problematic situations.

Introduction to and analysis of model situations, facilitated discussion.

Course curriculum

The course will take the form of a 3.5 hour learning block and is composed of lecture, analysis of model situations and discussions measured on the following points:

Aims

The goal of this workshop is to introduce students to issues of pathological and problematic behavior including sexual harassment, bullying and violence and to provide them with information about mechanisms and tools to address these issues and to empower them in their position.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance is compulsory - it will be just one seminar. In the beginning of the semestr students will be asked to choose one of the three terms on offer.
