The course is to introduce the development of the civil engineering industry to the student. It’s to teach students about the building code and accompanying decrees, local standards, nomenclature, structural systems, etc. Students are to gain information about loads and forces as well alongside ones regarding vertical load and non-load bearing structures, stairs, ramps, and others. They will also learn the basic requirements of building acoustics, thermal physics and barrier-free use of the building.

Student copes aim subject adoption basic technology andknowledge base obtained by applid, inclusive completive elements terrestrial constructions at illumination legislative frames and types building documentation in the process of build - up.
Prerequisites
It is assumed that the student has no knowledge at the beginning of the course in the field of civil engineering.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
These are lectures and exercises. The content of the lectures is familiarization with the basic processes in the construction industry. In the exercise, the goal is to master drawing according to ČSN 013420.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Altogether it is necessary to actively participate the practices, with parallel consultations and submissions of the assigned work (drawings) according to the schedule of practices, which are then required to be handed in together within the credit week in a prescribed manner. To pass the final mark, it is necessary to meet all requirements of exercise - and passing the final test.
