Doctoral state examination

Study and obtaining actual knowledge of selected geodesy and cartography problems with support of secondary supervisors
from other special and scientific deparments of the faculty, university and also out-of-university scientific research
centres. Defining of simulation and experimental parts of doctor thesis topic. Publications and presentations outputs
of creative activities. Semestral plan formation of expertise action visits (seminars, conferences, congresses) and
at the same time semestral plan formation of education or expert stays at foreign scientific and academic institutions.
There is benefit for create activities to co-operate with practice in terms
of project solving.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Graduates of doctoral studies are prepared for employment in development and research activities in the area of the relevant specialization of the field as well as for solving demanding, non-traditional and complex geodetic and cartographic problems. Graduates also find employment as academic staff of universities.

Prerequisites

Knowledges of university graduate (geodesy and cartography specialization) supplemented by doctoral study.

Co-requisites

No additional corrections are required to take the state doctoral examination.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The student prepares for the state doctoral examination independently, especially for subjects containing the topic of the doctoral dissertation. They will also elaborate the theses of the dissertation, which they will acquaint with the state doctoral examination board. The level of knowledge is evaluated by the committee and the student is classified according to valid criteria.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

After passing the state doctoral examination, the student fulfils the necessary prerequisite for the successful completion of the next stages of the DSP.

The issue of internships is one of the marginal information of the state doctoral examination.

Aims

Doctoral studies in the field of Geodesy and Cartography are focused on scientific preparation, methodology of scientific work and on the development of knowledge in the field of theory of geodetic and cartographic sciences and related sciences, based on the current state of scientific knowledge, research and development, on mastering their applications and on developing the abilities for independent creative activity of students of this study program.  Scientific training in this field is based on mastering the initial theoretical disciplines of the natural science base and theoretical and scientific disciplines of the relevant focus.
