CAD Systems (K)

Basics of Computer Graphics, vector editors.
CAD systems facilities for 2D documentation design (drawing, editing, dimensioning, blocks, layers, drawing output).
Practical working knowledge of standard CAD systems for documentation design.
Introduction into 3D modelling.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Working skills in creating, modifying and output of 2D AutoCAD drawing

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge and using of operation system, especially filesystem, basic knowledge of principles of computer graphics.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through practical classes and self-study assignments. Attendance at classes is compulsory.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Active work and participation in seminars (max. 2 absences). Continuous submission of key drawings and models to extend work in exercises. A credit test covering the subject matter.

Course curriculum

Lectures (6 x 2 hours)
1. Introduction, basic information about CAD systems.
2. Control and customization AutoCAD user interface.
3. Coordinate systems, layers, tools for effective drawing, templates.
4. Custom linetypes and hatches.
5. Annotation objects, print using model and layout.
6. Parametric design, coordination multiple drawings, blocks, external references, cooperate with other CAD systems.
7. Basic principles of 3D design a creating vizualization, presentation other CAD applications.

Seminars:

1. Introduction to 2D design.
2. Tools for design.
3. Layers, object properties, modify objects.
4. Additional tools for modify objects, create complex drawing.
5. Annotation objects – texts, dimensions, leaders.
6. Print using model and layout.
7. 3D modeling 1 – Introduction to 3D modeling, create basic mass.
8. 3D modeling 2 – Create objects by polylines.
9. 3D modeling 3 – Revision known porcesses, modyfying objects.
10. Vizualization 1 – Materials.
11. Vizualization 2 – 3D scenes, cameras, animation.
12. Vizualization 3 – Lights, rendering.
13. Final credit test.
