Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student will learn the problems of the course and will get under controll the course aims, within the meaning of obtaining knowledge and skills in the field of special topics of design and realization of metal and timber structures, concretized in the course schedule.

Prerequisites

Rules for design of metal and timber structures, static action of bearing systems. Mechanics, Elasticity and Plasticity.

2. Load of steel towers.
3. Design of steel towers
4. Steel towers - static and dynamic analysis.
5. Fatigue strength.
6. Software for design and analysis of steel structures, design automation.
7. Present and perspective structures made from wood, wood based materials and steel elements – 1. Part: Characteristics and arrangement of selected structural types.
8. Present and perspective structures made from wood, wood based materials and steel elements – 2. Part: Analysis of selected structural types, principles of designing and realization - special hall structures, frame houses, towers and bridges.
9. New types of connections used in present timber structures and examples of selected details. Wood-concrete beams – principles of designing and structural solution.
10. Spatial timber and combined member structures: Timber member domes and vaults – types of structures, principles of their designing and structural solution.
11. Timber shells, vaults and lamellar structures – types of structures, principles of their designing and structural solution.
12. Exploration, reconstruction and strengthening of timber structures – examples of the reconstruction of selected structures.
13. Examples of realized structures and practical design aspects.
