Specialized Project (S-PST)

The content of the course is focused on particular topics related to the bachelor works of the students attending the course. They are to solve issues related to energy saving and thermal protection of buildings (i.e. assessment of thermal resistance and conductivity designed structures, building envelope), fire safety, building acoustics and daylighting. At the exact same time students are to work on the visual aspects of the building in question, including terrain changes, etc. These topics are to be solved for a simple building with a partial or full basement assigned to the students by their supervisors (detached or semi-detached house with or without an administrative space, residential building, etc.). The outputs of the course as expected are a set of reports and a poster.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Ability to complete the design of smaller simple buildings - disposition, structural preliminary design, architectural concept and graphical presentation in accordance with valid design standards.

Prerequisites

It is assumed that the student has at the beginning of the subject knowledge from BH001 Building Construction 1, BH052 Building Construction 2, BH003 Building Construction 3, BH004 Building Construction 4, BH007 Introduction to Buildings‘ Design 1, BH051 Computer Graphics and BH057 Acoustics and Daylighting and BH011 Fire Safety of Buildings.

Aims

The purpose of the subject is preparing for individual work and instruction to application of obtained information in separated study branches for achievement of practical output as a integrated design in the middle-sized range.
