History of Architecture III

The end of the 15th century is connected with a series of significant events ranging from the development of maritime trade between the West and the East, up to the discovery of new continents. Understanding the context of modern times in Europe and outside Europe is important for the formation of social relations that led to the architecture of the renaissance and the baroque . The knowledge of the development of architecture, its structure, material and vocabulary, as well as the awareness of the specific features of the European and the Czech architectural development, is the objective of this subject.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Required is the knowledge of the history of architecture of the Antiquity, the Middle Ages,and gradual deepening of the knowledge of architecture of the modern times.

Prerequisites

Orientation in the periods of Antiquity and Middle Ages, capability of linking existing knowledge with newly gained knowledge.
