Course detail
FEKT-MKC-PQ1Acad. year: 2022/2023
The power quality is characterized by the steady-state sinewave voltage of nominal parameters (magnitude and frequency) more over symmetrical in the three-phase system. The power quality depends on quality of electrical power generation, of transmission and distribution as well as on quality of electrical power consumption. Disturbances of the individual power system components and their compatibility and cooperation in an industrial and distribution networks are the content of this course. Disturbance mechanisms are demonstrated on practical examples. More over there are discussed techniques and actions leading to mitigation of consequences and providing electromagnetic compatibility in the field of low-frequency disturbances. At least the course is aimed to measurement instruments and algorithms description and voltage quality evaluation.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Scoring of laboratory and computer exercises, homework and final examination according to FEEC rules. Laboratory exercises are evaluated on the basis of laboratory work and submitted protocols with a maximum of 14 points, the minimum for credit is 7 points. Computer exercises are evaluated with 4 points. Homework is assessed with a maximum of 12 points. The final examination is conducted orally with a maximum score of 70 points, with a minimum of 30 points required to pass. The final grade of the course is according to the planned rules of FEEC. The requirements for the completion of the course may be modified as needed by way of a decree issued by the course guarantor prior to the start of the semester. The final examination focuses on the orientation and knowledge in the field of quality power supply, mechanisms and sources of low-frequency interference propagated along the power lines, principles and procedures for ensuring the compatibility of appliances with the power grid and the measurement and evaluation of voltage quality indicators.
