Course detail
FEKT-MPC-PZDAcad. year: 2022/2023
The course is focused on key skills and language needed to give impressive presentations in English, which are required both in the academic setting and in companies. The course covers individual stages from planning to delivering a presentation and handling questions successfully. Both theoretical and practical aspects are included. Students are provided with advice for giving presentations. They discuss theoretical aspects of the core structure of a presentation, become acquainted with signposting language, and consequently they have an opportunity to put the acquired skills and language that they have learned into practice. Marginally, the course also offers an insight into the issue of applying for a job and the job interview. Throughout the course students deepen their knowledge of the English language.

ASSESSMENT METHODS AND CRITERIA LINKED TO LEARNING OUTCOMES: Classified credit Students must fulfil compulsory tasks (including a final presentation) assigned throughout the course, participate in compulsory seminars actively and pass the final test in order to obtain the classified credit. The number and types of tasks (particularly presentations) and the way of their delivery will be specified by the teacher at the beginning of the course. There will be two types of tasks: compulsory and recommended. If a student has not fulfilled 80 % of all the compulsory tasks, he/she will not obtain the classified credit. Fulfilling the recommended tasks is optional: students with a lower level of knowledge will have thus an opportunity to practise the topics and the language more and prepare for the final presentation and the final test more easily. The tasks and the final test are based on the material discussed throughout the course. The classified credit will consist of the sum of points for the final presentation and for the final test. Students must obtain a minimum of 50 % of the total points in order to pass the subject of MPC-PZD. For the final presentation, students must obtain the points in accordance with the specification at the beginning of the course, and simultaneously they must pass the final test with the minimum of 50 % of the total number of points for the test.
