The course is designed to provide an overview of the legal aspects of the creation and use of ICT. In the absence of any other legal background, students it does not teach the basics of general law, but on the basis of the principle from the special to the general it maps all areas of law that are typical for ICT.
In particular, it covers topical subjects such as law in cyberspace, data protection, electronic documents and signatures, introduction to eGovernment, intellectual property protection, cyber security law, cybercrime.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The course is designed to provide an overview of the legal aspects of the creation and use of ICT. Due to the absence of any other legal education of students in the study programme, it does not combine the teaching of the basics of general law, but on the basis of the principle from the special to the general, it maps all areas of law that are typical for ICT.

Course curriculum

Course content:
1. Introduction - law in cyberspace, the problem of jurisdiction and applicable law, which laws apply - overview. Disinformation in cyberspace.
2. Personal data protection - GDPR regulation, special regulations governing personal data protection - on banks, on health services, the Personal Data Protection Act.
3. Electronic documents and signatures - eIDAS Regulation, Trust Services Act; electronic signature, electronic seal and time stamp, certificates, selected provisions of the Archives Act, deeds versus electronic documents.
4. eGovernment - Act on ISVS, Act on basic registers, Act on electronic acts and authorized conversion of documents (data boxes), Act on electronic identification.
5. Other regulations - Act on Certain Information Society Services, Act on Electronic Communications, etc. Responsibility of service providers.
6. Protection of intellectual property - copyright and industrial property rights.
7. Cybersecurity - CCL and implementing regulations.
8. Cybercrime - facts under the Criminal Code.
9. Cybercrime - detection and investigation of cybercrime (perpetrators, expertise and expert opinions), proving what can be faked and what can be trusted.
10. ICT law and the legal system - generally binding legal regulations in relation to ICT law: the Civil Code and its application (protection of personality, legal acts, contracts, etc.), others according to questions.

The main objective of the course is to provide the student with a basic orientation in the legal aspects of the creation and use of ICT, both in the field of public and private law.
