Course detail

Industrial Design I

FSI-YA1Acad. year: 2022/2023

The course is concerned with basic methods and habits that are necessary for the work on a design project. During the semester students are assigned tasks to design products that have a simple function. Suitable topics as design of hand tools such as hand saw for wood or metal, electric drill or a jig saw. The design project itself is documented by drawing sketches, plan documentation, perspective views, and a three-dimensional model of final solution. It is expected that students will use digital technologies for visualization and animation at the working out of the current project.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Graded course-unit credit requirements: attendance at lessons, handing over assigned projects by the deadline in a sufficient quality. Presentation of an elaborated project. Design and the level of presentation of each project are evaluated separately.
Resulting evaluation consists of evaluations on projects and exclusive tasks. In total it will be possible to aquire 100 points. Resulting classification will be defined by the ECTS scale.
If some of the projects are awarded less than half of the maximum pts., final evaluation of the course is "failed".
According to the article No. 13 of Study and Examination Rules of Brno University of Technology ECTS evaluation degree scale is used. . If some of the projects are awarded less than 50 pts., final evaluation of the course is "failed". The course is evaluated with the following grades: ECTS EVALUATION DEGREES / PTS.
