Power Engineering

The course presents an introductory insight into the issue of available energy sources and energy transformations used for electricity and heat production. Specifically, the principles and main features of energy centals working in the Czech Republic will be introduced, accompanied by the introduction of the main components. The course will briefly present the issue of electricity distribution and control of the electrical system. Significant attention will be paid to new trends in electricity generation, including the possibility of accumulation.

Students will obtain the knowledge energy sources in the technical practice, their ecological, economic and energetic aspects.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Graded credit requirements: active participation in the exercises, delivery of a project for the given topic in the given term.
Examination: written part consists of questions and examples, oral part in a form discussion about a given topic.

To acquire the introductory knowledge of the engineering use of physical laws for the construction and design of power machines and equipment.
