FSI-0USAcad. year: 2022/2023
Since its inception, foundry technology has been engaged in the production of art objects in addition to utility items. The subject of artistic foundry deals with the description of foundry technologies that were or are currently used in the production of art objects and also with the analysis of the processes of production of some of the key works of art produced by foundry technology. As part of the laboratory exercises, students will participate in the production of selected art products that will be the content of their semester work.

Syllabus
Lectures are prepared in three blocks, where students will get acquainted with the basic methods of production of artistic castings and making moulds. The main area of lectures will be devoted to the production of moulds using natural foundry sands and the technology of precision casting on a meltable model. The lectures will be complemented by pictures and film demonstrations of the production of important artistic castings that were produced in the past.
1.- 4. Technology of production of artistic castings
5.-10. Production of selected famous artistic castings
11.-13 Finishing operations of artistic castings
Laboratory exercise
Exercises will take place in teaching blocks (6 hours), in which students will prepare model equipment and make molds for making selected artistic castings. Subsequently, they will also be present during the casting of castings. As part of independent home preparation or at the workplace of the Foundry Department, students will ensure the finalization of models and the finishing of castings.
1. Production of artistic casting mold into oil molding mixture.
2. Casting of artistic casting in oil molding mixture.
3. Production of the mold of castings into the core by grinding.
4. Casting of artistic casting in the form at the core.
