Theoretical Seminar of Visiting Teacher

The seminar is led by a visiting teacher on the current topic of the architecture and urbanism theory. This is a compulsory elective course included in the continuing master's degree program in Architecture and Urbanism in the group of theoretical subjects. The specific topic and content of the seminar is announced to students before registration in compulsory elective courses.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

  • The student is acquainted with the creative approach to research in the field of architecture and urbanism.
  • The student will master the appropriate tools and techniques to analyze the current topic.
  • The student is able to articulate the acquired knowledge clearly.
  • The student is able to clearly present the acquired knowledge (verbally, in writing or graphically).
  • The student is able to work appropriately with sources and literature and cite them correctly.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Block-led seminars supplemented by online consultations. Specific specifications and any other forms of teaching will be announced by the current teacher at the beginning of the semester.
Part of the teaching process is to develop students' creative potential and their presentation skills. 

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The submitted seminar work is evaluated. 

Course curriculum

The seminar is taught in blocks. The specific content of individual blocks of teaching is announced together with the current topic of the seminar and the specific teacher in the given semester.

Aims

The aim of the course is to gain insight into the current topic in the field of architecture and urbanism theory in an international context. The current topic is elaborated by creative and / or research methods. The seminar is led by a visiting teacher. 

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Participation in all full-time teaching blocks announced at the beginning of the semester is obligatory. In the case of an apology for serious reasons, replacement is possible and, with the consent of the teacher, the absence or replacement by distance is permissible.
The elaboration of the seminar work is obligatory.
