The course is intended to teach general English as a foreign language at B1 level. It is focused on practical, everyday communication and revising previous knowledge.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will consolidate general vocabulary and grammar structures for everyday communication at the intermediate level (B1).

 

Prerequisites

Course is intended for students who are familiar with the language at the pre-intermediate level as a minimum. They are expected to have the knowledge and skills corresponding to A2 level.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Language instruction as an extension of basic professional curriculum.

 

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

To pass this course it is necessary, apart from active participation in the class and individual home preparation (elearning activities), to pass the credit test (at least 60%) focused on testing grammar and vocabulary. There is a possibility for the student to resit the test.

Topic 1: Introduction- study materials, learning strategies conserning foreign languages, BUT studies in details

 

T2: Sociology: Are first impressions accurate?

to be able to speak about impressions of people, to make inferences, to compare and contrast

to be able to speak about why we choose some food or a diet, to identify causes and effects

Aims

The aim of the course is to equip students for real-life tasks and everyday communication.

 

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at seminars is compulsory and is systematically checked by the teacher. Students are allowed to miss two language seminars. In well-founded cases, extra absences can be made up for after consulting the situation with the teacher.
