Competence in Electrical Engineering

FSI-VE0Acad. year: 2023/2024

The subject is aimed at obtaining professional competence in electrical engineering based on Government Regulation (NV) No. 194/2022 Coll.

Attention is first focused on the analysis of currently valid legislation, an overview of selected standards and recommended literature. Subsequently, NV No. 194/2022 Coll. in terms of content with an emphasis on electrotechnical qualification, which can be obtained on the basis of the exam. The valid Act No. 250/2021 Coll. is also mentioned. and similar to our new legislation in the Slovak Republic (Decree No. 508/2009 Coll.). In order to clarify the content of the next chapters, the electric power system in the Czech Republic is analyzed. Distribution networks and their important parts are mentioned: wires, cables, possibilities for connecting electrical objects, including their covering and marking. This is followed by an important chapter devoted to safety in electrical engineering, its provision and control, as well as a description of personal protective work equipment. The student will also become familiar with means of protection against electric shock. These are means of basic protection, protection in the event of a fault (fuses, circuit breakers, circuit breakers) and means of increased protection. Other important facts include an analysis of electric shock and a description of the options for protection against this shock. This is also related to the premises in terms of the risk of electric shock. Drawing electrical schematics using various software is also discussed in the lesson. The subject's teaching also includes protection against lightning and overvoltage, revision of electrical equipment and electromagnetic compatibility. Considerable attention is paid to first aid in case of electric shock.

Completion of the subject also includes laboratory exercises, which complement the lectures appropriately from a practical point of view. Further details of the lectures and laboratory exercises are given in the course outline.

Entry knowledge

The prerequisites are based on the content of Act No. 250/2021 Coll. and Government Regulation No. 194/2022 Coll., which sets out the conditions for obtaining individual sections of eligibility (e.g. length of experience, education, etc.).

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

The subject is taught in the form of lectures, laboratory exercises and an exam is expected. The lectures are optional, but it is recommended to attend them. Exercise is mandatory (100% participation is assumed, in case of non-compliance individual cases are resolved by the teacher). The exercise will end with credit, which is awarded based on attendance at the exercise and also activity during the laboratory exercise. Obtaining a credit is a necessary condition for participating in the exam.
At the end of the semester, students can take a written exam (test) and an oral exam in front of the committee, which will be aimed at obtaining § 6 according to NV No. 194/2022 Coll. and a positive evaluation from the oral part.

Controlled participation in lessons: Controlled participation in lessons: 100% attendance at seminars is required.

Aims

From July 1, 2022, new legislation applies to the area of professional competence in electrical engineering, which replaced Decree No. 50/1978Coll. (cancelled as of June 30, 2022). This is Act No. 250/2021Coll. and Government Regulation No. 194/2022Coll., which entered into force on 1 July 2022. The aim of the subject is to enable students to obtain the appropriate qualification in terms of professional competence in electrical engineering according to the new legislation.

The outcome of the study is obtaining a certificate of successful completion of the exam according to NV No. 194/2022 Coll. on the requirements for professional competence to perform work on electrical devices and for professional competence in electrical engineering according to §6 Electrical Engineering. The scope of professional competence is established for AC voltage up to 1 kV or DC voltage up to 1.5 kV.
