Entry knowledge

Course work does not require any special knowledge and skills. The knowledge of basic types of metal materials and their physico-chemical properties, basic chemistry and physical chemistry of materials, with knowledge of PC control software Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, knowledge of descriptive statistics. Knowledge of chemistry of polymer materials and chemical reactions is an advantage. It is recommended that before the lecture and practical exercises familiar with the problem. Lecture given topic and general protocol is available to download and print.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Requirement for award of graded credit is participation in all practical exercises, treatment of protocols in electronic form and completing in classification colloquium. Evaluation is performed according to the grading scale from A to E (readiness) and F (not ready).
Visiting lectures is recommended given the advanced stage of study is expected to self-mandatory and recommended resources. Attendance at practical exercises is compulsory. For practical exercises are necessary writing tools, ruler, calculator, stopwatch and other needs by the teacher dispositions. Absence from exercises is necessary to solve with the course supervisor.

Aims

The goals of the course are to provide basic professional information in the field Corrosion and anticorrosion protection. It is based on the assumption that knowledge of the mechanism and kinetics of corrosion of different materials are to optimize systems of corrosion protection necessary.
From this perspective, the subject divided in two on consecutive issues (corrosion of materials and anticorrosion protection of materials) in 13 basic topics. Of these, the first eight topics are to introduce the basic principles of materials degradation due to environmental factors. In terms of limited scope is made more detailed description of the corrosion process only for metals, plastics and rubbers. The following five of these topics describes of the basic types of corrosion protection, especially in terms of their purpose, features and applications of the products of different material composition and construction design.
Problem areas are complemented by practical exercises, or by visiting a professional workplace, in order to provide students with a more comprehensive view of reality corrosion and anticorrosion protection in industrial practice.
Learning outcomes form the basis of comprehensive knowledge base and field Corrosion of materials and anticorrosion protection, allowing of the students realizing knowledge in implementing specific projects of corrosion and anticorrosion protection materials of industrial products and consumer goods. In particular, it is the knowledge of the fundamental principles of material degradation due to environmental effects, with an emphasis on various forms of degradation in atmospheric conditions. This allows appropriate selection of construction materials for the anticipated corrosion in chemical environment.
Of the basic types of corrosion protection, especially in terms of their designation, functions and applications of the products of different material composition and structural arrangement are projected output pre-edit process knowledge. Knowledge of protective coatings, based on the description of the basic system produced industrially prepared using paints and paint systems, knowledge making and properties of metallic coatings and coatings of new generation alloy coatings and composites (dispersion) coatings. Another important outcome of the course is the possibility of applying knowledge gained in the field of anticorrosion treatments for transport and storage. This is the first application of preservative oils, protective dispersions, emulsions and impregnating materials, both forms of treatment corrosion systems by destimulation and inhibition.
Presented results of studies in a whole allow listeners used both in research of corrosion, and in design and application of anticorrosion protection in industry with knowledge of the issue.
