Microbiology

FCH-BA_MIBAcad. year: 2023/2024

Students will be in detail introduced to the fundamental physiological, morphological, genetic and metabolic aspects of selected industrially relevant microorganisms. In addition, students will be also familiarize with new trends in industrial microbial biotechnology such as system and synthetic biology representing modern tools to understand and improve industrially important microorganisms.

knowledge of biology, microbiology, organic and physical chemistry, biochemistry, knowledge of fundamental properties of selected biomolecules

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Test, those passing the test (at least 70 % of points) will continue to oral exam.
The presence on lectures is voluntary

Aims

The aim of the subject is to familiarize students with physiology, morphology, genetics, metabolism, system and synthetic biology of the most important industrial microorganisms in context of modern industrial biotechnologies.
By passing the course, students will gain fundamental as well as specialized knowledge on microorganisms and their properties, characteristics and strategies, which play crucial role in industrial microbial biotechnologies.
