The course is designed as a series of lectures and follow-up practical exercises focusing on intaglio. In this course, students will become more familiar with the possibilities of drypoint, engraving, mezzotint, and collagraphy printing from depth. Emphasis is placed on an individualized selection of hands-on activities. Within the individual classes, students will become familiar with intaglio press operation and working procedures. The course will include the opportunity to work in the printmaking workshop during open hours. Part of the lecture will be devoted to current trends and artists who use printmaking in their work.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
The following conditions are set for the award of credit:
- Attendance in class (2 permitted unexcused absences) or submission of an assignment based on the assignment in consultation with the lecturers.
- submission of completed assignments.
Classes are taught in the intaglio workshop of the FaVU BUT during the hours specified in the schedule. Minimum attendance is 85%. Make-up for missed lessons is done by agreement with the teacher in the form of individual consultations.
Aims
The aim of the Foundations of Printmaking 2 – Intaglio Printmaking course is to provide students with a basic orientation to the possibilities of intaglio through practical exercises.
The course will enhance students' ability to think about intaglio in contemporary art. Emphasis will be placed on proper technological procedures, building on traditional printmaking techniques.
Upon completion of the course, the students will be familiar with the procedures and possibilities of intaglio. They will be aware of the place of printing from depth in the context of contemporary art theory and practice.
