Application of CAD/CAM in Technology

FSI-HC1Acad. year: 2024/2025

The course is intended as an introduction to the CAD system focused on the software working in 2D and 3D mode. Also dealt with is hardware of CAD systems. It provides students with basic knowledge necessary for the design of tools, jigs and fixtures in the CAD environment in order to prepare the data for further processing in CAM systems.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Attendance in the exercises is compulsory and checked. It is allowed a maximum of two absences per semester. The course-unit credit is awarded according to attendance and submission of individual assignments in the exercises. Attendance in lectures is recommended.
The exam tests student's theoretical and practical knowledge of computer technology and its application to the construction 3D modelling used in machining technology. The practical part of the exam reflects student's ability to create a model in CAD systems.

Individual assignments and result checking.

Aims

The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge of engineering parts designing in CAD system with 2D and 3D application.
Students will learn how to work in CAD systems especially when designing in 2D and to create models in 3D intended for further application in CAM systems. They will have an overview of manufacturing technologies and computer technology systems and will be made familiar with the methodology of work with CAD.
