Introduction to Design of Scientific Instruments and CADS gives a basic overview of instruments and mechanisms used in surface science and optics. Students are introduced in to the computer design of optical systems particularly.

The goal of the the subject is to provide students an overview of construction of devices used in physics of surfaces and optics.
